Teacher’s notes and lesson plan
Give out the lesson plan. The objective is to get students talking and thinking about the topic. Print out the lesson plan and go through it in class. Or, split the class into pairs, swap pairs, then have people report back to the class. Giving people the chance to practice in pairs before reporting to the class builds confidence to speak publicly. Split the class into pairs to do the final three questions as a speaking exercise, then get the pairs to report back to the class.

Tower Talk Topics 2 is intended for non-native learners of English, typically in their second year of high school. But I designed the book to be of equal use to the mature student studying English at home. Every one of the 42 lessons are about a discussion topic with clear sections to work on skills for reading, writing, speaking and with links to free videos for listening practice.
