Details, details. Yes, I'll write about such things, but the short answers are: ISBNs are only necessary if you are interested in selling books via bookshops or non-Amazon-related places. They are better to have than not have I suppose, but if you only intend to publish via Amazon, completely unnecessary. Expensive? It's all relative. ¥5,000 for a combined textbook/workbook/phonics book? Yeah, maybe, maybe not. Print on demand is relatively expansive, maybe twice the cost compared to getting a local printer, if you are happy to have a 500 to 1,000 print run, and somewhere to store all the copies. But for me, so far, small scale one-off print on demand works well. I am working on a range of cheaper textbooks under the Free Talk brand. Watch this space.
This was really interesting, thank you.
Thanks from Okinawa! Inspiring!
I'm also interested in small details like ISBN.
Or if there is something you would do differently.
Also, your textbooks are quite expensive. Does this mean the cost to make them is high? Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next video.
