Teacher’s notes and lesson plan
The aim of the lesson is to have fun using Halloween vocabulary to answer a simple crossword. It can be used as the main part of a lesson or a filler around Halloween time.
Phonics (for non-readers) Reading (the likes of Oxford Kipper books etc)
Warm up (Missing cards/3 hint quiz) with Halloween cards
Worksheet (get students read out the clues and try to figure out the answers (the answers are hinted at on the page with helpful illustrations. You might be surprised that this is harder than it appears — crosswords are an alien concept to most).
Stamp Rally/Spot the difference/Halloween themed games
There are a wealth of Halloween themed books out there, the pop up book Haunted House by Jan Pienkowski is a favourite from my childhood that always amazes kids.
