When I lived in Korea, I taught English to private students. They had me over to their home, and treated me to little snacks while I taught their children. I loved getting to see Korean life up close, though of course your setup is much more efficient and professional.

Yeah, I liked doing that in the early days here in Japan too. But once I started getting more students it became a time suck and I had to choose between getting paid to teach or spending 30 minutes getting between lessons unpaid.

I was just wondering because your kitchen is basically in the classroom. Our kitchen is on a different floor to our classroom but I have to be careful to keep the doors closed to stop the cooking smells filling the house.

Well, like I say, it's a mortgage requirement that it's our home. So if you ask me, do you live there? I will say, yes we do. Legally, it's our residence. But we never have to cook when classes are in session. Nod, wink, meaningful stare.
